First and foremost, Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a Merry Christmas too! Here’s to a fantastic year in 2016.

For those not in the know, I am currently developing my own fan-made sequel to what many consider to be one of SEGA’s best Sonic games ever made: Sonic The Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles for the SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive. For the past several months and beyond, I have kept rather quiet about this project and have been mostly working on it without sharing much online publicly. Admittedly, progress on the project was also quite slow and sporadic in 2015. This year, however, I will be focusing my efforts on Sonic The Hedgehog 5 a lot more frequently.

Fans of classic Sonic games will no doubt be aware of just how carefully a project such as this needs to be approached. Sonic 3 & Knuckles marked a massive milestone not only in Sonic games, but in 2D. games altogether. I am acutely aware of the fact that so many others, like myself, feel strongly and passionately about the sheer quality of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and how that high bar of quality absolutely must be matched in crafting a genuinely faithful sequel to it.

Rest assured, how this project is handled is immensely important to me, and I am going to do everything that I can to bring everyone a fun, balanced and legitimate successor to Sonic 3 & Knuckles. I will be publishing more news and information about the project on this Sonic 5 Blog, and I will be posting updates on my Twitter and Facebook accounts as well.
